Growing a Community

In spite of being 8 1/2 years old, the HSP Southwest group remains fairly small and quiet. As of this writing, we have just 21 active members.

Ultimately, a group is only "worth" to its membership what goes into the group, and what the members get out of the group. Simply being registered with a group doesn't mean you're getting anything out of your membership. We're looking to change that, in the course of 2012.

Creating a vibrant and flourishing community takes both time and effort. During the year ahead, we plan to take steps to help our little group grow and become more active. The point of this is to create a better community for our members and-- by extension-- create an environment that encourages more group participation.

As part of our effort to build community, we will soon be adding a free-standing web site, as an additional support point to our home page on YahooGroups. The web site will have information about the group, along with general information about what it means to be an HSP. Hopefully, HSPs from our region will find the web site, and subsequently decide to become group members.

Stay tuned for updates!
